About the bike park

The bike park itself is not the biggest, only having about 5 runs on the resort property. There is a trail “Dark Hollow” you can take off the top that is a 13 mile down hill that you will need to shuttle. As you can see in the video the black diamond and double black diamond trails have definitely earned their rating. At one point Brain Head was a stop on the NORBA downhill series. Steep and loose with shale rock, big chunk and fun tech sections. The blue jump line is pretty bombed out but very fun. The green runs aren’t as beat up and incredibly fun and welcoming to all skill levels. The chair lift takes you up to 11,000 ft above sea level. Add that to Brian Head being one of the driest places I have ever spent time in and your lungs will definitely be burning.

Location

Brian Head Mountain Resort is located in southern Utah. The closest town is Parowan that has a small market. As well as a small state liquor agency. Closest bigger city would be Cedar City. Which was the reason we were out here for KP to race the BWR Cedar City.

Cedar Breaks National Monument

Just a short drive past the Brian Head Mountain Resort and you will find yourself in the Cedar Breaks National Monument. This area is all above 9,000 ft above sea level or more. There are hiking trails, gravel riding trails as well as mountain biking trails. While we were in Brian Head we also rode the Virgin River Rim Trail. If you are looking to pedal your bike and not just rip laps at the bike park I would recommend you check out this ride.

Conculsion

I liked staying in Brian Head and riding the bike park. Hardly anyone around while we were out. To go out there strictly for mountain biking I don’t think I could spend all that much time out there. Just due to the lack of mountain bike worthy trails. But with Virgin and Grafton nearby. If I was in the area I would definitely stop by!
